Inspection at intake
Goods are checked against the written specification when they enter our custody — not when they leave it. A lot that fails intake never becomes a claim later.
Three commodity lines, each with its own handling regime, grading standard and documentation set — traded in both directions between the Lao PDR and the wider region.
Overview
S-KHAM specialises in the import and export of poultry, food and spice products, with particular depth in the poultry and food industry and in the spice trade. Every line below is handled in accordance with applicable food-safety and sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) requirements, and certified to the destination's requirement — HALAL included. Perishable goods — poultry, meat and fresh produce — are managed under cold-chain and storage arrangements that preserve quality and safety from source to destination.
Line 01 — our specialisation
Chicken and other meat products, moved chilled, frozen or processed under an unbroken cold chain and a complete sanitary documentation set.
Poultry is the least forgiving commodity we handle and the one we have built the most process around. Product is sourced only from establishments approved for the destination market, pre-cooled before loading, carried in temperature-controlled equipment with logged readings, and cleared with health and veterinary certification prepared ahead of arrival. Where a buyer requires it, we arrange third-party inspection at loading.
| Item | Typical form & grade | Handling |
|---|---|---|
| Whole chicken | Chilled or frozen, graded by weight band | 0–4 °C / −18 °C, logged |
| Chicken portions | Breast, leg quarter, wing, thigh — IQF or block | −18 °C, IQF or carton block |
| Processed poultry | Marinated, coated or further-processed lines | −18 °C, retail or bulk pack |
| Other meat products | Chilled, frozen or processed, to buyer specification | Cold chain, SPS & HALAL certified |
Line 02 — our specialisation
Spices, dried herbs and condiments — cleaned, dried to specification and packed to survive long transit without losing character.
The spice trade rewards patience at source. Moisture content, foreign-matter tolerance and volatile-oil retention are decided long before a container is sealed, so we buy against a written specification, verify it on intake, and pack in moisture-barrier materials suited to the route. Whole and ground lines are handled separately, because what protects one will flatten the other.
| Item | Typical form & grade | Handling |
|---|---|---|
| Whole spices | Cleaned and graded, to agreed moisture and purity | Ambient, moisture-barrier pack |
| Ground spices | Milled to specified mesh, volatile-oil checked | Ambient, sealed foil-lined pack |
| Dried herbs | Air- or shade-dried, graded and sieved | Ambient, sealed liners |
| Condiments & seasonings | Bulk or retail pack, to buyer specification | Ambient or temperature-controlled |
Line 03
Fresh and processed produce, moved on short lead times with ventilation, chilling and packing matched to each individual crop.
Fresh produce is a calendar business. We book volume with suppliers ahead of season and route by the fastest workable border rather than the cheapest. Each crop carries its own temperature and ventilation profile — what preserves one item will damage another — so cooling regimes are set per consignment, not per container.
| Item | Typical form & grade | Handling |
|---|---|---|
| Seasonal fruit | Fresh, graded by size and maturity | Chilled, ventilated, crop-specific |
| Vegetables | Fresh, packhouse or cold-room packed | Chilled, high-humidity |
| Processed produce | Dried, frozen or preserved lines | Ambient or −18 °C |
| Root crops | Cleaned, cured and graded | Cool, dry, ventilated |
Quality & handling
The specification a buyer agrees is only worth what arrives. These are the controls that stand between the two.
Goods are checked against the written specification when they enter our custody — not when they leave it. A lot that fails intake never becomes a claim later.
Pre-cooling, temperature-controlled transport, monitored storage and rapid border handling, with readings logged and available to the buyer.
Sanitary and phytosanitary certificates, veterinary health certificates, HALAL certification and import permits prepared to the destination's exact requirement.
Every consignment carries a lot reference back to the approved establishment, processor or packhouse it came from.
Carton weight, liner, pallet configuration and marking chosen for the transit duration, climate and destination convention.
Independent inspection, weighing or analysis arranged at loading where a buyer, a bank or a market requires it.
